Early this morning we crossed the border into Mexicali, Mexico. We were given the green light at the west crossing so it wasn’t necessary for us to stop except to get our passports stamped. After a little frustration about a copy of our tourist visa receipt, we repaid our fees and were on our way.

We drove through town and then on to San Felipe to gas up before crossing over to the pacific side. We eventually entered Baja Sur and then drove on into the small town of San Ignacio. All the roads on the trip were paved yet smaller than typical two lane roads in the states. The landscapes were beautiful and ranged from amazing ocean views to cactus covered hillsides.

The drive was long but fortunately pretty uneventful. We had heard about a recent theft at one of the military checks that caused us a bit of trepidation. I heard this song, however, that really helped bring me peace. It is called “Be Alright” It is in Spanish and English and a few of the lyrics are:

Todo va a estar bien
Everything will be alright
The whole world’s in His hands
Your whole world’s in His hands
In the darkness and the trials
He’s faithful and He’s true
The whole world’s in His hands
Y todo va a estar bien

The song helped remind me that wherever I go in the world God is there too and he is in control. That acknowledgment gave me peace and stopped me from over thinking the stops that were ahead of us.

At each stop we were asked where we were going and where we came from. After answering the questions we were then given the go ahead to drive through. I actually started to enjoy going through the stops because I was able to practice my Spanish 😊

Arriving in San Ignacio was like finding an oasis in the desert. We stayed at the Ignacio Springs bed and breakfast. All rooms were individual yurts😄 Ours was called King Neptune. We had never been in a yurt before but we both loved it! It had a brand new bathroom attached to it and was extremely inviting. After I get settled in San Jose I will write more about this great area🥰

Turning in for the night now😊 I drove the whole way and this puppy is tired 😴
