Ray and I both slept well in our yurt. The bathroom had just been completed the week before. It was so roomy and I loved how the knobs to turn on the shower head were on the adjacent wall so you could turn on the water without getting wet😁
After getting packed up, we had a made to order egg, bacon and homemade bread( toast) breakfast. There was also freshly made mango and dragon fruit jams. The meal was included in our stay and was delicious. After breakfast decided to take the kayaks out for a spin in the spring fed river. It was so calm and quiet. Just what we needed before getting into the car again.
Soon after our kayaking adventure, we said goodbye to Paul and Bonnie ( the owners of Ignacio Springs) and headed to Loreto.
The drive from San Ignacio to Loreto is 169 miles and took about 3.5 hours. The route took us past some dormant volcanoes and some absolutely stunning beaches. The beaches between Mulege and Loreto were especially impressive. They all had rectangular palapas that you could rent, turquoise water and white sandy shorelines. Definitely a few places Ray and I will be visiting next year sometime.
We arrived in Loreto just before 3 and checked in to our room at La Misión hotel. It was much fancier than the yurts with a beautiful pool and jacuzzi with a full service bar. We changed into our swimming suits shortly after arriving and enjoyed cooling off in the pool and then spending time in the jacuzzi. We met a few kind people there who were from California. They all raved about a restaurant called La Palapa in town that was only a few blocks from the hotel. Ray and I said our goodbyes , changed and headed out for an early dinner.
The restaurant was under a huge palapa and served great food at a reasonable price. The drinks were a bit pricey but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. After filling our bellies we took a stroll through town and on the malecón. Spectacular evening with a cooling wind blowing off the Sea of Cortez.
Signing off both bushed and blessed❤️Looking forward to arriving in San Jose del Cabo tomorrow!
Such a great adventure this trip has been! I would love to see the big palapa in person!
Sounds fabulous!
